I’m currently feeling a bit restless and uneasy. I’m yearning for something different in my life—a new job, a new project, or just something fresh. I’m not quite sure what that is yet. I find myself feeling stagnant and uninterested in my current work. It’s not catastrophic, but I recognize that I need a change.

I’m exploring the possibility of new opportunities—nothing frantic, but just gently looking around. Ideally, I want to be in an environment that’s energizing and enjoyable, where I can connect with interesting people and feel appreciated and busy. That’s my goal.

At the same time, I want to be a very present parent to my sons. Therefore, finding a balance is key. I’m hopeful that the right opportunity will arise, though it may take some time, and in the meantime, I just need to practice patience and appreciate what I currently have. Counting my blessings is essential.

* Good health
* A happy family
* Work that provides some fulfillment (though not quite enough)
* A strong sense of sobriety

That last point is crucial for me. Because I am sober and fully engaged in my life, I won’t fall into stagnation or bitterness. I’ll stay aware of my situation and gradually work towards making the necessary changes.

Being sober means I can’t afford to remain complacent. Avoiding challenges is just not an option in sobriety, which can be tough at times! However, it can also be incredibly rewarding as it encourages you to address issues rather than let them linger indefinitely.

So, I will strive to stay grounded in my reality, explore potential opportunities, and cherish the aspects of life I already enjoy.

On a different note, we attended a wedding last weekend and had an amazing time. There was plenty of conversation and affection, but the highlight was definitely the DANCING! I danced for hours to a fantastic guitarist who turned the whole party into a dance floor. I’m not sure how one person with a guitar managed to create the energy of both a DJ and a live band, but he truly did! It was remarkable.

I didn’t spend the night wishing for a drink like many others at the event. I feel incredibly content in my sobriety and grateful for the life I have now—it’s a far cry from the intoxicated, disconnected life I led over six years ago.

I have no desire to return to the sloppy, inebriated, emotionally limited version of myself.

Much love, Mrs D xxx

P.S. I created a photo montage of the event to share on my Facebook page.
