I’m thrilled to present my conversation with Jane Macky. During this discussion, Jane explains her program and how CRAFT can assist parents in supporting their children.

Jane is a certified professional in Community Reinforcement and Family Training (CRAFT) and the founder of the We The Village initiative.

She is also currently leading a Family Support Research Study in collaboration with the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).

In our conversation, Jane reveals how a friend’s battle with substance use prompted her to seek help, ultimately leading her to the CRAFT approach, which focuses on behavioral change.

Jane went on to become a therapist and now works in the addiction field.

Dr. Meyers, the creator of CRAFT, discovered that family members are often more driven to help, as they are the ones who consistently show up. The family sessions proved to be effective.

CRAFT is a framework that therapists and counselors can adopt. Additionally, it’s fantastic that both peers and family members can learn this approach to assist their loved ones.

Jane is eager for families to access CRAFT resources as a foundational step in their journey.

Families play a crucial role. They can foster positive change with their loved ones by maintaining frequent communication, encouraging positive behaviors, and discouraging harmful substance use. Over time, this leads to a shift towards sobriety and healthier habits. This process takes time but has been repeatedly shown to be effective.

There is a beacon of hope for your son or daughter. CRAFT is a method that can facilitate change.

Jane Macky is the CEO & Founder of We The Village. She earned her Master’s in Mental Health Counseling in 2022 and has a BA in Philosophy and Psychology from Yale University. Her first job in New York City exposed her to the challenges of addiction through a colleague, who is now her husband. This ongoing issue ignited her passion and directed her life’s mission.

She developed a program based on her personal experiences, combined with leading evidence-based strategies and clinical knowledge, winning multiple government grants and millions from the National Institute on Drug Abuse to validate the effectiveness of their program through clinical trials and enhance its sustainability. The program is now available directly to consumers and funded throughout Colorado.

We The Village is the top clinically validated digital program for families seeking treatment entry and recovery for a loved one with a substance use disorder (SUD). The affordable online course and certified coaching provide individuals with evidence-based skills and support to ensure noticeable improvements in treatment entry and recovery engagement while also enhancing their own physical health, mood, and overall functioning.

Even collaborating with just one concerned family member, We The Village fosters meaningful positive changes for the family and aids the family member in guiding their loved one through addiction recovery. Now, We The Village also provides professional training in this leading evidence-based approach utilized in their program.
