I’ve been turning to podcasts more frequently. They serve as a source of motivation, creativity, and a fun way to engage during my day. Perhaps you’re curious about which podcasts can support your alcohol-free journey. This question often arises within our communities.

One of the best things about podcasts is their versatility; you can listen to them anywhere—at home, during workouts, while commuting, handling chores, running errands, or even while relaxing in the bath! (Having a Bluetooth speaker in your lighting makes it even easier!)

With that in mind, I wanted to share some of my current favorites that you can check out as well.

Podcasts for Curiosity and Growth

  • The Rest is History: It’s often said that those who ignore history are destined to repeat it. In this captivating podcast, Dominic Sandbrook and Tom Holland make history engaging and fun. Episode 213, “London: Moments,” is particularly illuminating for me, as I learned a great deal about a city I once lived in.
  • The Happiness Lab: Dr. Laurie Santos, a professor at Yale, dives into the science of happiness in this enlightening podcast. Prepare to challenge your preconceived notions about happiness; this show may shift your viewpoint. The episode featuring Super Grover from Sesame Street discussing positive self-talk resonated with me recently.
  • The Peter Attia Drive: If longevity and health optimization pique your interest, this podcast is a treasure trove. Dr. Peter Attia explores various topics related to health, including exercise and nutrition. Be sure to listen to episode #193 on alcohol and sleep, as well as episode 280 that focuses on happiness.

  • Fighting Favorites Podcast: Want a pick-me-up? This cheerful podcast featuring Adam, Stacy, and Nate discussing life’s best aspects is sure to lift your spirits. Each episode serves as a reminder of life’s simple pleasures.
  • Wiser Than Me with Julia Louis-Dreyfus: Julia’s discussions with legendary women are packed with insight, humor, and emotion. Season 2 Episode 8 showcases her conversation with Anne Lamott about their experiences with addiction, reinforcing the notion that none of us are alone in our struggles.
  • The Mindset Mentor: Rob Dial is dedicated to helping individuals reach their full potential in this empowering podcast. The episode titled “Why Do You Get Triggered?” examines how family influences our emotional health and is essential for anyone on a path of self-discovery.
  • Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend: Conan candidly seeks genuine connections, leading to surprisingly profound conversations. The “Couldn’t Have Done It Without Me” episode featuring Etta from Los Angeles offers unique insights into addiction and the LGBTQ+ community.
