If you haven’t come across Mel Robbins’ bestselling book ‘The Let Them Theory,’ I highly recommend getting a copy or checking out her videos on YouTube. This book guides you on how to reclaim your emotional strength. For instance, if you go through a breakup with someone who fails to appreciate you, are left out of your social circle, or struggle with family relationships, this book provides insights on how to lead a fulfilling and joyful life, without causing harm to yourself or others.
This post isn’t a promotion for the book; I’m not getting paid to promote it. I simply found it incredibly helpful and transformative in my own life. As an empath, I am sensitive and often take others’ actions to heart. I’m in the process of learning to prioritize myself and concentrate on what I can control, rather than stressing over others’ behaviors or trying to please everyone. It’s challenging, especially when you want to be compassionate but also deal with anxiety—however, setting boundaries is crucial. Building self-esteem and safeguarding your wellbeing is also essential.
Mel Robbins states,
“The moment you say ‘Let Them,’ you stop giving away your power. And when you say ‘Let Me,’ you reclaim it and begin to live for yourself—your aspirations, your tranquility, your principles.
This powerful quote is from page 106 of The Let Them Theory, serving as a strong reminder to cease seeking validation and start prioritizing yourself.”
