As part of your Residential Treatment experience at Alpharus Health, you will receive 24-hour support to encourage you to participate in recovery without the distractions of daily life. Your residential experience at Alpharus Health may include:
- Individual, family and group counseling
- Education group sessions
- Medication-Assisted Recovery
- Recreational activities and team building
- 24-hour access to medical staff
- Physician and psychiatric sources
- Access to Recovery Coaches and peer support groups
- Treatment, prevention and discharge planning
What items can I bring with me?
Identification
- Proof of identification
- Insurance card
- Credit card for medication/medical items
Important Items
- Any current medication (in labeled prescription bottles)
- Needed assistive devices (walker, cane, wheelchair)
- Refillable clear water bottle
- Headphones
- Music player without camera or internet access
- Sunglasses
- Pens, pencils and highlighters
- Binder, folder or notebook
- Journal
- Leisure books
- AA and/or NA books
- Family pictures (no frames with glass)
- Unopened packages of cigarettes
- Unopened packages of hard candy (i.e., mints, Jolly Ranchers)
Clothing – Maximum of:
- 10 pairs of undergarments (socks, underwear, T-shirts, bras, etc.)
- 8 changes of outer clothing (pants, shirts, skirts, dresses, etc.)
- 4 pairs of shorts (seasonal)
- 2 sweaters
- 3 sweatshirts, sweatpants or recreation outfits
- 2 pairs of pajamas
- 1 bathrobe and 1 pair of slippers (hard soles)
- 1 heavy coat or 1 light jacket (seasonal)
- 3 pairs of shoes, including 1 pair for recreation
- 1 hat
If you are unable to bring clothing, Alpharus Health will provide clothing for your stay.
Personal Items
- Shampoo and conditioner
- Soap, body wash, lotion
- Aerosol-free shaving cream and razon
- Deodorant (solid only, no aerosol)
- Toothpaste and toothbrush
- Nail clippers and tweezers
- Make-up
- Sunscreen (non-aerosol)
- Blow dryer/curling iron/straightener
What items are not allowed?
Your time in residential treatment should focus on learning tools and skills for lifelong recovery. In our experience, there are items that may cause distractions while participating in programming, so we can you do not bring the following:
- Pillows, blankets, or linens (unless medically necessary or needed for accessibility and approve of in advance)
- Cigarette lighters
- Music players with camera features, or devices with Wi-Fi capabilities
- Personal TV, cameras or video recorders
- E-cigarettes or vapes – must be picked up in 24 hours or will be destroyed
- Perfume or cologne
- Sex toys
- Pocket knives
- Body products containing cannabis, CBD, THC, Sativa
- Clothing with alcohol or drug references
- Aerosol cans (hairspray, room freshener, etc.)
- Loose tobacco, rolling papers, cigars, unpouched chewing tobacco, snuff
- Any outside food, candy, snacks or beverages other than hard candy listed above
Phone and Smoking Policies
- Unit phones are available to use during free time, and personal cellphone use varies based on unit guidelines.
- Patients are permitted smoking breaks throughout the day.
Important Things to Know
- Please bring enough cigarettes, toiletries and other personal supplies for your stay in Alpharus Health residential treatment, which is typically about one month.
- For approved items, we do allow drop-offs and you can order from Amazon, Walmart or Target if you need items while you are here.
- There is no ATM on site, nor do staff make store runs. If you decide to bring cash, please keep to a minimum. Cash amounts over $20 will be kept in our safe and can be taken out as needed.
- Jewelry is allowed, however, Alpharus Health is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
