1. Alternate praying as a couple: the husband prays today, the wife prays tomorrow, and so forth.
2. Don’t depend solely on the two-hour Church services for your spiritual growth.
3. Take personal responsibility for your spiritual journey; don’t pass it off to pastors, Sunday school teachers, or relatives.
4. Engage in Bible study as a family, either weekly or monthly.
5. Play worship music at home or during car rides.
6. Engage in family discussions on spiritual topics. It’s about seeking truth, not proving who’s right. Encourage questions from your children.
7. Motivate your children to take part in enjoyable church events like dancing, acting, and serving.
8. Avoid judging each other’s spiritual progress, particularly if you have different religious backgrounds.
9. Plan fun activities like Bible quizzes for the whole family.
10. Attend worship concerts and night vigils as a family when possible.
11. Pray together as a family, but also as a couple. Some prayers are best kept private.
12. Watch spiritual films together as a family; pick one movie each month.
13. Go beyond just saying a prayer of thanks for your meal; ask your spouse and children if they have specific requests for prayer.
14. Understand the difference between religion and spirituality: Religion involves rituals, while spirituality is about building a relationship with God and growing in all aspects of life — emotional, physical, mental, professional, social, and financial.
15. Share experiences and testimonies with one another and express gratitude to God as a family.
16. Surround yourselves with friends who uplift and spiritually challenge your family.
To create a God-centered family, follow God’s path for family life.
