Understanding Money Blocks
Money blocks refer to the restrictions we place on ourselves regarding finances, prosperity, and success. Through my experience as a hypnotherapist, I’ve learned that these obstacles often reside within our subconscious minds. This means they can influence us without our conscious awareness, leaving us puzzled about how they affect us and what we can do to overcome them!
Many individuals sense they’re not reaching their true potential. This can be exceedingly frustrating, especially when we recognize that we ourselves are impeding progress, standing in our own way. We consciously aspire for success, yet underlying beliefs often restrict us at an unconscious level, making it hard to move forward.
Such beliefs may instill fears that prevent us from pursuing our ambitions and shining in our careers and personal lives. Common fears include failure and the apprehensions about the reactions of others to our achievements.
At a deeper level, we might struggle with feelings of unworthiness or the belief that we don’t deserve a fulfilling and successful life. This mindset can hinder us even before we attempt to achieve our goals! Additionally, negative thoughts about money can lead us to sabotage our own success unconsciously.
Formation of Limiting Beliefs
Usually, limiting beliefs are formed in our subconscious during early childhood. We absorb information from our surroundings, including our parents and those around us, while our minds are highly receptive. Consequently, we make judgments and form beliefs often without the insight of our conscious, logical minds. These beliefs can be either positive or negative, but the negative ones become restrictions.
The conscious mind, which helps us filter and analyze information, develops later in childhood (around ages 5-8). Until this stage, the subconscious acts like a sponge, soaking in everything it encounters.
This underscores the importance of what we communicate to young children. Positive reinforcement, love, and encouragement can significantly mold their self-esteem and character early on, as everything they observe, hear, feel, and experience is stored in the subconscious. A lot of this mental framework or ‘programming’ stays with us and can heavily influence our choices and behaviors as we grow.
Where Do Negative Money Beliefs Come From?
If you’re facing challenges with money—whether it’s struggling to earn enough, keeping what you earn, or worrying about never having enough—reflect on the beliefs you might have acquired during childhood.
You could be repeating patterns learned in your early years. Do you recall hearing any of the following statements about money?
“Rich people are selfish and greedy.”
“Wanting more than just enough is wrong or greedy.”
“Earning more could make others jealous.”
“Wanting money is superficial.”
“Wealthy individuals are lonely and unhappy.”
“If you have money, others will just take it; what’s the point of earning it?”
“Most of your earnings will just go towards taxes anyway.”
“Don’t expect me to give you money; do you think it grows on trees?”
“We often hear that money is the source of all problems!”
“Rich individuals lack intelligence.”
Perhaps you noticed your parents or the adults around you when you were young and concluded that making money is a struggle, that there’s never enough, or that you have to work exceedingly hard just to cover your bills.
There might be some ideas regarding your self-worth intertwined with money. Do you find yourself believing that you’re not skilled/confident/qualified enough to ask for a raise, promotion, or to effectively market your services in your business?
Or you may say something like: “I really struggle with managing money.” or “I avoid looking at my bank accounts and detest handling my finances.”
Does any of this sound familiar to you?
Self-Sabotage Might be Happening Unconsciously!
Such limiting beliefs can undermine our achievements and earning potential because our thoughts and beliefs influence our emotions, which in turn drive our actions or inactions.
What we do, or fail to do, in life shapes our outcomes, reinforcing the idea that our thoughts have a direct impact on our results.
This is empowering because altering our beliefs leads to changes in our thoughts. Changing our thoughts transforms our actions, and by modifying our behaviors, we can improve the results in our lives!
The Bright Side: You Can Alter Your Beliefs!
Through hypnotherapy and Rapid Transformational Therapy (RTT), we can engage directly with the subconscious mind, pinpointing barriers that hinder our progress and uncovering the origins of these blocks. This realization is incredibly freeing and healing as we understand that these beliefs might no longer be valid, or were likely someone else’s beliefs imposed on us, not ours! With this understanding, we can RELEASE the belief and adopt a positive one that empowers us.
Here are some reflections from clients on their RTT journey and its impact on their lives:
